An FFC or FPC cable can look almost identical to the original and still be unsuitable. Check at least these five points:

  1. Pitch: measure the centre-to-centre spacing between adjacent contacts. For better accuracy, measure across several contacts and divide by the number of gaps.
  2. Contact count: count the electrical contacts; do not rely on total cable width alone.
  3. Length and space: check the required length, bend radius and possible pinch points.
  4. Contact side: compare whether the exposed contacts at both ends are on the same or opposite sides.
  5. Connector and drawing: verify insertion side, connector orientation, cable thickness, pinout and the product drawing for the exact part.

A visual match is not proof of compatibility. Compare the manufacturer part number and datasheet where available.
